Our youngest, Buddy, shares a passion for animals with his elder sister. We’re firm believers in nurturing a love for nature by letting children experience it firsthand, and the Singapore Zoo is a perfect place for this. Given our work commitments, weekends and school holidays are our ideal times for zoo visits. Arriving early has always been our strategy for the best experience:
- Observe the animals when they’re most active in the morning.
- Participate in a plethora of family activities, including feeding sessions, live shows, and now, an exciting new ROPE COURSE tailored for kids!
- Get ahead of the influx of tourists. The Singapore Zoo is a renowned destination, and tour groups usually show up post-breakfast.
Last Saturday, Buddy’s birthday, we explored two new dimensions of the Singapore Zoo.
1. An Enriched Jungle Breakfast Experience
We started our day with the Jungle Breakfast with Wildlife at Ah Meng’s restaurant. Alongside a fulfilling buffet breakfast, we got the chance to interact with some zoo celebrities like Ah Meng and even a ball python! The addition of Kellogg’s cereals to the breakfast was a delightful surprise. Known for their nutritional benefits, they complemented the already extensive buffet that includes a mix of local and continental dishes.
The highlight of the breakfast was the opportunity to pose with some zoo inhabitants, and the photos were readily available for purchase, making for cherished souvenirs.
Post-breakfast, our day continued with a tram tour. We referred to the Singapore Zoo’s website for show timings and customized our route to align with the activities of our interest. The Kellogg’s Family Day made our visit even more memorable with interactive games and temporary animal tattoos.
2. Adventure Awaits: The Rope Course!
To our surprise, nestled within the zoo is the thrilling Rope Course! Located at ‘Garden with a View’ (a short distance from Ah Meng’s restaurant), the Houbii Rope Course introduces two unique challenges tailored for kids based on their height. The young adventurers are equipped with safety gear, ensuring a secure yet exhilarating experience.
The two courses cater to varying age groups, with an option for parents to guide their younger ones. Those seeking an elevated view of Mandai Lake and the encompassing forest can either brave the larger course or opt to take stairs (for a small fee). Witnessing our kids collaborate, especially with the older one assisting her younger brother, was heartwarming.
The Singapore Zoo, renowned as a premier family destination in Singapore, continues to elevate its offerings. The recent introductions of Kellogg’s cereals to the Jungle Breakfast and the adventure-filled rope course reaffirm that it’s an ever-evolving haven for families. Can’t wait for our next visit!
